Signature French Toast

French toast is a classic staple in this house, we both love it, everyone loves it.

First, get the right bread, this is not a dish for whole-wheat nonsense. You need either a simple white, potato, brioche, or texas toast.

Ingredients for the egg dip:

3 eggs beaten very well

1/4 cup whole milk or cream

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 tbs brown sugar (dissolved into egg mix)

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Butter

Top with butter and powdered sugar

Method:

Heat your pan or skillet on medium heat. Melt in a tablespoon of butter in the pan and spread evenly across the surface. Take your bread of choice and soak both sides in the egg dip. Raise it up and allow to drain off, give it a lil' shake and place directly on the pan. You will likely be able to fit 2 slices at a time.

Don't move the bread once it hits the pan for at least a minute. This will ensure a good caramelization of the egg mix onto that bread!

Cook the first side for a total of 2-3 minutes and flip and continue for 1-2 minutes. You may need to adjust your heat and turn it down a bit. Once both sides are nice and toasty, remove from the pan and top immediately with butter and powdered sugar. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
